Notice is hereby given that jointly Laois and Offaly County Councils intend to prepare a Draft Joint Local Area Plan for Portarlington and are now engaging in pre-draft consultation pursuant to Section 20 (1) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended). The pre-draft consultation will inform preparation of the Draft Local Area Plan which will be subject to further consultation at a later stage which will be accompanied by a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment and Environmental Report prepared as part of a Strategic Environemental Assessment under the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004 (as amended). The Draft Local Area Plan will also be subject to the Appropriate Assessment requirements under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
Information
The public consultation will take place from Thursday 21st September until 5pm on Thursday 19th October 2023 inclusive. In order to stimulate debate and encourage participation in this process before the Draft Joint Local Area Plan is prepared, Laois and Offaly County Councils have prepared a Planning Consultation Issues Paper which can be viewed on the Councils websites at https://www.offaly.ie/portlap-predraft and http://consult.laois.ie or can be viewed during normal opening hours at:
