Edenderry has been selected by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications to take part in a pilot study on Clean Air.
As part of this study you may notice activity around the town this week, as Air Monitoring sensors are erected.
An anonymous household survey is to be carried out on behalf of Offaly County Council over this coming Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of November and we request everybody to engage . Further surveys are to be carried out the following weekend Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of November.
Information Posters are also being erected and information leaflets will be delivered to households.
This is being run by Offaly County Council and the objective of this project is to gain insight into what’s happening at a local level on air quality in Edenderry.
The project includes 3 stages:
AIR MONITORING SENSORS
There will be 16 sensors placed in various locations around Edenderry to capture air quality data for air monitoring on Wednesday 13th November. These sensors will remain in place until April 2025 to gather data over the .
SURVEYS
Householders will be asked to participate in an anonymous survey. Surveys will be carried out this Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of November and leaflets will be dropped into households. Further surveys will be carried out on Friday the 22nd and 23rd of November.
AWARENESS
Further engagement with the local community in Edenderry will be rolled out over the coming months to increase awareness about this important issue.
