Offaly to benefit from the EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Community Facilities Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Scheme

Offaly has been selected as one of the counties to benefit from the EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Community Facilities Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Scheme.

The EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Community Facilities EV Charging Scheme will provide funding for the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points at a variety of community facilities across the EU JTF territory including Offaly. This Scheme is funded through the European Union’s Just Transition Fund and administered by Pobal on behalf of Zero Emission Vehicle Ireland (ZEVI).

The Scheme will see €15 million invested from the EU Just Transition Fund (co-funded by the EU and Government of Ireland) to support the roll-out of publicly accessible, fast charge point infrastructure at community facilities in counties Offaly, Laois, Longford, Westmeath, Roscommon and Municipal Districts within Galway, Kildare and Tipperary.

This scheme aims to provide EV charging at popular public facilities including community centres, public libraries, public health centres, recreational facilities, and enterprise centres across the Just Transition territory to support regions that are experiencing the negative impacts from the transition away from fossil fuel-intensive industries, such as the using peat for energy generation.

The application process to The EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Community Facilities EV Charging Scheme requires the submission of a completed Application Form along with supporting documentation via the dedicated application portal on Pobal’s website.

Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 28th September 2023
