Applications for Certificates of Exemption for XL Bully type Dogs due before February 1st 2025 under The Control of Dogs (XL Bully) Regulations 2024.

Owners of XL Bully type dogs are reminded that in accordance with The Control of Dogs (XL Bully) Regulations 2024, that from February 1st 2025 if you own an XL Bully type dog you must have a Certificate of Exemption to keep your XL Bully type dog.

Applications are now being processed and the forms and general information on the regulations can be found here. You may also request an application form from the Climate Action, Environment and Rural Water Section of Offaly County Council, in Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore.

The public and XL Bully owners are reminded that from February 1st if you do not have a Certificate of Exemption for your XL Bully or fail to produce your Certificate of Exemption when requested to do so, by any Dog Warden Service in the Republic of Ireland, then your dog can be seized and destroyed as per The Control of Dogs (XL Bully) Regulations 2024.
