Offaly County Council through a range of measures has increased its energy efficiency by 38% since 2009 and will continue to work towards an increase in energy efficiency of 50% by 2030.

Public Lighting

Offaly County Council at present manage 9,359 lights in the county. All of the lights are maintained/repaired and upgraded on the network for various stakeholders such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

Offaly County Council working in partnership with TII began in 2019 to retrofit and change Public Lights in Offaly to LED lighting units in Offaly. To date 45% of all Public Lighting has been changed. There are now 4,199 lights changed to LED. The total cost to complete this retrofit is approximately €3.5 Million.
