Draft Public Consultation Offaly Biodiversity Action Plan 2025-2030

Introduction:

Offaly County Council is at an advanced stage in the preparation of the Offaly Biodiversity Action Plan 2025 – 2030. As a requirement set by the government under our National Biodiversity Action Plan, all local authorities and government departments are to have Biodiversity Action Plans in place by the end of 2026. Offaly County Council plans to finalise the plan by the end of 2024.

Pre-draft public consultations took place during March and April of this year. Submissions received during the consultation phase were considered by the Offaly Biodiversity Working Group, and where relevant, integrated into the actions contained within the Draft Offaly Biodiversity Action Plan (available below).

The Draft Offaly Biodiversity Action Plan 2025-2030 is available in English and Irish at the links below, also provided are the Appropriate Assessment (AA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Screening Reports. You will also find printed copies for reference at Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore.

We are now inviting the public and key stakeholders to review the draft and submit your feedback ahead of the Friday, November 1st submission deadline.
