Cruinniú na nÓg is Ireland’s national day of free creative activity for children and young people up to 18 years of age.

It is a key date in Ireland’s cultural calendar, providing opportunities for Ireland’s 1.2 million children and young people to be inquisitive and curious, inventive and innovative, to fulfil a creative ambition or showcase an inner creative talent.

This year, everyone is invited to celebrate their creativity and to take part in Offaly’s Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations on Saturday 7th June.

Offaly Libraries has organised a diverse range of workshops which are jam-packed with activity in 8 library locations: Banagher, Birr, Clara, Daingean, Edenderry, Ferbane, Kilcormac and Tullamore.

These creative activities include workshops on music, singing, dancing, abstract art, illustration and creative writing.  There is something for all age groups.

As well as these workshops, there are several development projects commissioned as part of Cruinniú. Beginning the end of April, Birr, Edenderry and Tullamore Libraries will host a series of workshops focusing on Musical Theatre Dance, Speech & Drama, Drum Circles and Glee Clubs. These workshops will provide an engaging and structured environment to foster creativity, confidence, and teamwork through the performing arts. The series of workshops will culminate with a performance by participants in a showcase event on Saturday 7th June.

Craft Kits will also be available to collect from your local branch. Call in on June 7h and tell library staff your age to receive a suitable craft kit to take home.
