TVRS Projects Approved 2019-2023

Town and Village Renewal Scheme

The Town and Village Renewal Scheme was first introduced in 2016. It is managed on behalf of the Department by the local authorities, and is funded under Project Ireland 2040. It is part of a suite of measures designed to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland through the rejuvenation of towns and villages with more than €154 million allocated to over 1,700 projects across Ireland since it's inception.
The Scheme is targeted at towns and villages with a population of 10,000 or less and supports small to medium capital projects which enhance the environment of town or village centres.  Initially, the focus was on public realm improvements and correcting infrastructural deficiencies that existed but in recent years there has been a shift towards providing outdoor spaces that encourage social and economic activity in town centres and bringing vacant and derelict buildings back into use as multi-purpose community spaces through refurbishment and renovation.
