Articles 24 and 25 of Part V of the Building Control Regulations 1997 outline the fees payable to the Building Control Authority. The fees payable to the Building Control Authority are as follows:
Application for a Relaxation or Dispensation:
- Dwellings – €125.00
- Other buildings – €250.00
Commencement Notice:
€30.00, or, where (a) the proposed works or the material change of use (as the case may be) relates to more than one building, €30.00 in respect of each building. In determining the fee payable in respect of a Commencement Notice, a house in a terrace and a semi-detached house are each to be treated as being a separate building. The maximum fee payable to a Building Control Authority shall be €3,800.00 in respect of the submission of a Commencement Notice. This fee is paid online during the electronic submission of a commencement notice at LocalGov.
Fire Safety Certificate:
The fee for an application for a Fire Safety Certificate in respect of
1. Work in connection with the construction or extension of a building: €125.00, or €2.90 for each square meter of floor area being provided, whichever is the greater.
2. Work in connection with
(i) The material alteration of the interior of a building: €125.00, or €2.90 for each square meter of relevant floor area, whichever is the greater,
(ii) The material alteration of the external surfaces of a building €125.00
(iii) A combination of (i) and (ii) above: €125.00, or €2.90 for each square meter of relevant floor area, whichever is the greater
3. A building in which a material change of use takes place €125.00, or €2.90 for each square metre of relevant floor area, whichever is the greater
4. Works or a building, where the building concerned will be used as an agricultural building €65.00, or €0.80 for each square metre in excess of 300 sq.m. of:
(i) Gross floor area being provided, or
(ii) Relevant floor area, as the case may be, whichever is the greater.
The maximum fee payable to a Building Control Authority shall be €12,500.00 in respect of an application for a Fire Safety Certificate.
