Core Services:
The Civil Defence strategy towards 2030 outlines the five core services in which Civil Defence Volunteers are trained in and are set out below.
A. Provision of trained personnel and equipment to assist in response to emergencies, hereafter referred to as ” Emergency Response ” .
B. Provision of trained personnel and equipment to assist in search and rescue for missing persons hereafter referred to as “Search and Rescue”.
C. Provision of pre-hospital medical service personnel, hereafter referred to as “Medical Response”.
D. Provision of trained personnel and equipment in the context of “Community Response”.
E. Provision of a “Radiation Monitoring Service”
All Local Authority Civil Defence units should have trained personnel and equipment to allow them undertake each of the above five core services. The provision of any of the above core services is dependent on the availavilability of the appropirately trained volunteers. Further operational support services including Drones, Mapping, Sonar, Search Dogs,Welfare and Communications may be required locally, or from regional and National assesets.
