Heritage Week at Offaly Libraries

National Heritage Week celebrates Ireland’s cultural, built and natural heritage.

It brings together volunteers, community groups and heritage enthusiasts to share their experiences, knowledge, culture and practices.

Offaly Libraries are celebrating this year with a wide variety of events for all ages.

  • ‘Threading Needles, Telling Stories’ Exhibition Tullamore Library. Official launch with Oein deBhairduin, Traveller Culture Collections Development Officer with the National Museum of Ireland, 18:00 on Tuesday 13th August.
  • TEXAS Sign Display / Exhibition Tullamore Library
  • James Scully Talk “All Along the Banks” at Tullamore Library, 18.00 on Tuesday 20th August.
  • Jeff Harvey Photography Workshop at Clara Library, 18.00 on Wednesday 21st August.
  • Dr Ciaran O’ Reilly Talk “Connecting the past through archives” at Edenderry Library, 18.30 Wednesday 21st August
  • Pollinator Workshops with Edel Heeran at Tullamore, Daingean, and Edenderry Libraries on Thursday 22nd
  • Midland Tunes in Harmony at Tullamore Library, 18:30 on Tuesday 20th August 
  • Prideful Poetry Evening – Celebrating Heritage Week and Offaly Pride Festival at Birr Library, 18:00 on Wednesday, 21st August
  • Birr Library Coffee Morning at 11:00 on Thursday 22nd August
  • Arts and Crafts at 15:00 on Thursday 22nd in Birr Library
  • Leinster Regiment Exhibition in Birr Library for the month of August
