Hullabaloo! hosting 101 Arts events for children this Midterm Break!

Hullabaloo! Offaly’s Children’s Arts Festival presents its biggest programme to date with an extravaganza of creativity, art making and fun experiences for all the family. Now, in its 17th year, Hullabaloo! Offaly’s dedicated arts festival for children under 12, runs from Wednesday 1st November to Saturday 4th November in Birr, Clara, Edenderry and Tullamore.

Hullabaloo! is all about creativity, stimulating curiosity, originality and confidence with workshops and family performances with the best artist facilitators from all over Ireland and beyond. Children have fun and experience a medley of high-quality creative experiences, curated to meet the developmental needs and interests of children of all ages.

With a monster one hundred and one events in this jam-packed programme, there is something for everyone from animation, juggling, character design, writing, drama and sensory movement to music, abstract art, drawing, hip-hop dance, finger puppets, and painting with wax. Fifteen family events across a breadth of artforms from circus, film, music, theatre and puppetry are available to audiences. Hullabaloo! now has a home in Tullamore with the long-awaited opening of Esker Arts, giving the opportunity to host an array of fantastic workshops and performances. The 2023 programme sees a huge emphasis on inclusion, with bespoke workshops for children with additional needs, workshops in Ukrainian crafts and a broader offering for young audiences. The festival continues to promote inclusivity via affordable ticket prices with workshops priced at €4 and show prices at €5.

As the festival prepares to open county-wide, Arts Officer Sally O’ Leary commented that “Offaly County Council Arts Office are, once again, delighted to be working in partnership with Birr Theatre and Arts Centre to deliver a programme of exciting live events countywide. This year we have even more reason to celebrate, with the opening of Esker Arts, we have expanded our partnership and welcome the new art centre to our team and are able to offer a full programme of events at Esker Arts, Tullamore as well as a great programme for Edenderry. This is the biggest programme to date with a broad spectrum of arts events for everyone. Hullabaloo!  has become a much-anticipated annual event offering fun for all the family, and we are looking forward once again to this year’s events.”

Hullabaloo! is coordinated by Offaly County Council Arts Office and Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, with Offaly’s Library Service, Esker Arts and Clara Family Resource Centre. Supported by Offaly County Council and The Arts Council of Ireland.
