Offaly County Council Notice Of Rates Having Been Made

Notice is hereby given that County Rates have been duly made on the property rateable thereto in the above named County Health District of Offaly.  The annual rate on valuation (ARV - formerly Rates in the pound) for the ordinary expenditure of Offaly County Council for service of the year ending on 31st December 2017is   €66.00

Section 29 of the Local Government Reform Act, 2014, provided for the harmonisation of Commercial Rates between the County and former Town Council rating authorities of Birr and Tullamore.  This process is now complete and was adopted by Offaly County Council at the statutory Budget meeting of 21st November 2016.

The Rate Book is now in my custody and may be inspected by any person affected thereby at the offices of Offaly County Council, Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm during the next fourteen days excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. 

Under Section 7(1) of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Act, 1978 any person who is aggrieved at the failure of a Rating Authority to make him/her an allowance under that Act or who believes that he/she is entitled to a different allowance to that made, may within 2 months of the date of making the rate request the Rating Authority in writing to grant the appropriate allowance.   In case the request is not complied with within 28 days the person may within 4 months of the date of the making of the rate apply to the District Court to have the appropriate allowance made.

The above Rateswere made on the 7th February 2017.   Any request in respect of them under Section 7(1) of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Act, 1978, must therefore be made to Offaly County Council not later than 6th April 2017.   Any application to the District Court under the same provision must be made not later than 6th June 2017.
